Biography of Lama Jamgön Rinpoche

His teachers were SS. Dilgo Kyentse Rinpoche, SS. Dudjom Rinpoche, SS. Pema Norbu Rinpoche, Dodrupchen Rinpoche, Dungse Trinley Norbu Rinpoche among others.

As a child I was very keen to learn and learned fast. At age 11 he began his formal schooling and learned the Mahayana sutras and tantras at the Mysore Nyingma Institute where he was praised for his intelligence. Soon he began teaching thousands of students.

He has received complete teachings from the Nyingma tradition of various scholars and gurus. He has studied astrology, Madhyamika and Dzogchen and has made several retreats.

The Berotsana Institute for the promotion of Buddha's teachings has been established by him, as well as his main monastery, Dudjom Chökor Ling, and other monasteries and retreat centers. He has also created the Jamgön Foundation. He has assisted in the reconstruction of several monasteries and stupas. All this provides schooling, teaching, food and clothing for all the monks, nuns and meditators who reside in them. Rinpoche is the secretary of the Nyingma Foundation for the preservation of the Nyingmas teachings and is both a scholar in Buddhist philosophy as teacher of teachings on compassion and a great practitioner of meditation.
